NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — They say that when you wish upon a star, your dreams come true. And that's exactly what happened for one North Little Rock woman.
However, her dream has been a century in the making!
Freda Nichols of North Little Rock celebrated her 100th birthday on Wednesday, January 15, 2025.
To mark such a momentous occasion, Ms. Nichols said all she wanted was a ride on a fire engine.
So Station 7 B Shift firefighters with the North Little Rock Fire Department got to work, rounded up a few of her close friends, and made it happen.
Honorary Captain Freda Nichols was finally able to ride in the shiny red firetruck! And she did so in style by wearing a beautiful tiara on her head.
Ms. Nichols shared that she lives near the fire station and sees the firefighters often. She normally is the one who cheers them on.
However, this time, it was the firefighters' turn to cheer on Ms. Nichols.
