CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A beloved Charlotte resident who spent her life helping others is marking an incredible milestone this week - her 108th birthday.
Julia Ann Teamer, who touched countless lives as a Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools teacher for more than three decades, celebrated her birthday on Thursday.
Beyond the classroom, she played important roles in her community as the first lady of Cosmopolitan Community Church in the Dalebrook area near Beatties Ford Road.
Teamer has also devoted a lot of time to leading a local Girl Scout troop.
Her family points to her healthy lifestyle - she never smoked or drank - and especially her strong faith as keys to her long and fulfilling life.
To honor Teamer's special day, family members hosted a small afternoon celebration. The birthday gathering happened at Shad's Landing, with the community invited for the occasion. Loved ones shared their favorite memories with her, and Teamer herself was all smiles for her special day.
