MANNING, S.C. — A store clerk's recommendation proved to be a windfall for a Manning customer who recently took home a massive jackpot.
South Carolina Education Lottery officials reported that a customer at Carolina Pantry on Sumter Highway bought a $10 Shimmering Riches scratch-off ticket chosen by the clerk. The winner told officials they hoped it would be "the big one." And at $500,000, it was.
The winner said they fell to their knees, adding that the win was life-changing. And the store won't leave empty-handed either since it will get a $5,000 commission. The odds of winning $500,000 in the Shimmering Riches game are one in 1,128,000.
