COLUMBIA, S.C. — Senior guard Jamarii Thomas will likely miss 3-4 weeks with a right knee sprain sustained in practice, the team announced Friday night.

The reigning MEAC Player of the Year from Norfolk State, Thomas transferred to South Carolina and has made an immediate impact. He has started all 15 games this season and is second on the team in scoring with an average orf 12.3 points per game.  He leads the team with average of 3.3 assists per game and 1.4 steals per game. He had a season-high 22 points in the win over East Carolina on Dec. 7.

This is the second Gamecock starter to be sidelined after guard/forward Myles Stute was diagnosed with a left lower leg deep vein thrombosis (blood clot) on Tuesday.
