Sumter County investigators seek justice for Gregory Robinson Jr., killed in a shooting. A $10K reward is offered for leads in the case. Call 1-888-CRIME-SC.

SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. — The search continues for the person responsible for the shooting death of 9-year-old Gregory Robinson Jr.

It's been three months since someone shot into his home in Sumter County on Oct. 7, 2024.

His mother, Sanobina McClam, reminisced about his energetic personality and the family's heartbreaking loss.

"My baby is gone. My baby is gone," she said.

"My baby was going to be a football player," McClam said. "I could have seen him being a real-life football player in the NFL, and I can't see that anymore because we got dumb people around here doing dumb stuff."

Investigators in Sumter County said someone fired into the home on Bunneau Street, hitting Robinson while he was lying in bed. Three months after Gregory's death, investigators hope the community can help close this murder case.

"Every case is important, of course, but when you talk about a murder -- and the murder of a child like Gregory -- like, he was only nine years old," said Sumter County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Mark Bordeaux. "What did he do to deserve this? He didn't do anything."

McClam, now left with the memories of her baby, said all she wants now is closure for her family.

"I mean, whoever did it, just step up and turn yourself in," she said. "I need some time of relief and justice."

"I don't sleep at night, we don't sleep at night," McClam added. "We don't know what's going on; these young kids out here doing dumb, crazy stuff. It's too much."

Bordeaux said the sheriff's office will continue doing everything possible to bring justice to this family.

"We are committed to bringing justice to Gregory in some measure bring comfort to the family by bringing to justice the people responsible for his murder," he said.

The Sumter County Sheriff's Office is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case.
