WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Robby Ashford has found a new home.
The former Gamecock quarterback who spent 2024 backing up LaNorris Sellers has transferred to Wake Forest. The Demon Deacons have a new head coach in Jake Dickert who spent the previous four seasons as the head coach at Washington State.
Ashford started his career at Oregon where he spent two seasons before transferring to Auburn where in two seasons he started 10 games and played in 22 contests for the Tigers.
In his one season in Columbia, Ashford made one start against Akron where he passed for 243 yards and two touchdowns. He also recorded 133 yards and one touchdown on the ground in a 50-7 win over the Zips.
He played in a total of eight games for the Gamecocks. His final numbers for Carolina are 23-of-32 passing for 324 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for 227 yards and two touchdowns on 41 carries.
